Songs of Christmas Blog Hop

Our Blog Hop is all about the Songs of Christmas and the inspiration for my project comes from the song Frosty The Snowman.

For my project I decided to base it off of the adorable little snowman Frosty. We haven't had a bunch of snow yet this year but I really like the look of snowmen. 

I created this elegant tag to go along with the theme. I stamped on my background of the tag and added some white mist to give it some texture. 

Then with my Copic markers I colour the adorable little snowman and the Christmas tree. 

To finish off the tag I stamped my sentiment and added some stickles to add some glitter.

I had a bunch of fun creating this cute little tag and hopefully this will inspire you to take out some winter photos or paper and get creating!

Christmas Cards and Tags

As I mentioned in my previous post I was in a craft show at my church and had to come up with some new Christmas cards and tags.Below are some of the cards I created with some inspiration from Pinterest.

This card was  done on the Cameo. Those candy canes are so cute.

Again this card was done on the Cameo. This is one of the designs found in Silhouette.

The following tags are made with Close To My Heart stamps, and a stamp and die cut set.Love that little snowman set.

Lap Quilt

To My Husband

 Should You Go First

Second Lap top Quilt from Adornitt-CHA

Below is the second and final lap top quilt from fabric I purchased at CHA California.I wonder where my next destination trip will be so I can purchase some more unique fabric.

The photo below is fabric for the next one that I purchased at The Quilt Place in Shakespeare Ont.

I did a Shop Hop of four fabric stores in our area.Some of these I didn't know excisted. One was at The Quilt Place in Shakespeare, Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe in Stratford, Creative Sisters Kitchener and Reichard's in St. Jacobs. We also have many more top quality fabric stores in our area. It is well worth a day trip to this area for quilting supplies.While you are here you can always visit your favourite scrapbook store as well. Two scrapbook Friends in Waterloo.

Lap Quilt (Blue)

In my previous blog post I said you would be the first to see the completed quilt of the blue fabric I purchased from Adornitt at CHA California. So true to my word here it is.

Another Lap Quilt

Since February was so cold and snowy I thought I had better get the sewing machine out and use some of the fabric I had sitting on the shelf waiting to be used. Above and below is the end result.The quilt is made from Home Spun fabric,which has a very soft and warm feeling to it.

The next two photos are of fabric I picked up in California and will be the next two quilt that I make. The fabric is from Adornit. Thats right the same company that make Scrapbooking products.I can't wait to start them. You will be the first to see them when they are finished.

As many of you know my husband passed away December 3rd 2012 of kidney cancer.  It is almost 2 months since he left us but it seems like yesterday. It feels like I am still waiting for him to come through the front door and say "Hi, I'm home" but those words are gone forever.  The above photo was taken on our 45th wedding anniversary, 2 years ago. I was asked why are you celebrating your 45th, why not wait until your 50th and my reply was, we might not make it until out 50th. Little did I know that it would be true.

I just want to thank each and every one of you for your support, your prayers, your visits to the hospital, your get well cards, your memorial donations and all the sympathy card that I received.

John was a good husband, father and grandfather (gpa). He will be forever missed.

Gelatos

Two Scrapbook Friends got this new product called Gelatos. It's a new way of colouring your stamps before you stamp. A very cool look, like water colours. The card below I used the Chicken wire template and sprayed it with Mister Huey's Opaque White spray. Love the effect.

The card below was done using Mr Huey as well but I held the spray bottle to far away from the card by accident and this is the effect I got.I relly like this as well.

If you look closely at these four card none are identical. Thats the beauty of using Gelatos.

Cards

I have had this stamp set for years and never used it.It is from Our Daily Bread designs and is called We Three Kings. I just gold embossed the design and it turned out great.My style is very clean and simple.

This card is made with the Sizzix embossing folder and the Cuttel Bug embossing folders.

The Cuttel Bug folder was used on this card along with copic markers on the flowers.

I have purchased some new Spellbinders dies and had to try them out. The bird is made from fabric.

These two cards are made again with a new die for me from Spellbinders and a Penny Black stamp along with copic markers.

Smokey Mountain Rag Quilt

I have now finished using the last of the fabric I purchases from Mountain Stitches by Susan, fabric store in Tennessee. Now I think I should return to this beautiful store and buy some more. However my husband may have something to say about that.(Pretty expensive quilt is what he would say).The colors are amazing. This time I purchased two fat quarters and got a lot more colors to work with. The end result is beautiful.

The Yellow Quilt

On our recent trip to Gatlinberg Tenn.we took a side trip on the Crafters 8 mile trail. I had been on this trail before but had missed the beautiful fabric store. It is full of well co-ordinated fabric in all kinds of colours. Of course I couldn't leave without buying some. I have made another lap quilt with what I purchased. The size is 50 x 70 inches.





These photos really do not do this fabric justice. The colours are a lot more vibrant.

Keep watching for the next quilt with fabric from the same store.

Dream Vacation

I have just returned from a vacation in The Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. It has always been a dream of my husband to rent a cabin in the mountains and this year was the year. After a lot of research on the Internet he came up with this one. It was everything that it was advertised for and more. It looked a bit weathered on the outside but that is what log cabins look like right. It had a wrap around porch with all the little details that made it look stunning. You will see in the pictures below what was on the porch and so inviting.

We didn't have to many sunsets but when we finally had one it was well worth the wait. You know you are up high when the airplanes fly by at eye level.

Our porch came with a hot tub which we used a few times. We don't have one, so this was a nice treat.


This is what we saw when we walked in the door for the first time. I couldn't believe my eyes. It also had a dishwasher and a washer and dryer.Absolutely stunning.



Our cabin was loaded with antiques.I could get used to living here very easily if I didn't have to go up and down the narrow roads of the mountain. The roads are very narrow and not very straight. We had to write down every turn on the way down so we could find our way back up.

The next two photos are just some of the little touches we found sitting on the porch.





The bedroom was in the loft. So beautiful. It even had a lounge chair for reading or watching TV. I did neither. I tried to read my book on the porch but found myself listening to the sounds of the trees rustling, birds singing and sometimes total silence.

This is what I wish my front porch looked like. I will have these memories forever.
